ISP warn of heavy traffic in Decatur area this week due to the Farm Progress Show

Pesotum, IL – Illinois State Police (ISP) is reminding motorists to make safety their number one priority while driving during the 2013 Farm Progress Show. 

The Farm Progress Show in Decatur, Illinois, on August 27-29, 2013, will draw thousands of attendees from across the globe. 
The interstates, state routes and local roadways will be congested.  I-72 will be heavily traveled and motorists are advised to expect traffic backups in and around the Decatur area. 

Be especially alert of stopped traffic on I-72 and Route 48 during the morning commute hours.  I-72 eastbound lanes will be especially congested.  Thru traffic is advised to use the left hand lanes of I-72.   

Illinois State Police, Macon County Sheriff’s Office, and Decatur Police Department will be monitoring traffic in the area.  In the event of a minor crash, motorists are advised to move their vehicles to the shoulder and call 911.
