Ted's Garage, destroyed by fire in March, says they have no plans to reopen

Clinton--Ted’s Garage, An American Classic Grill, will not re-open its doors after the building was destroyed by a fire on March 31, 2013.

After weeks of deliberation Ted’s Garage owner, Scott Baum, has elected not to rebuild the restaurant despite an overwhelming influence to reopen from the public. Baum, who has owned the restaurant since 2008, felt that the task of relocating or rebuilding would be too cumbersome to undertake at this point in time.

“I cannot allocate the appropriate amount of time or energy to rebuild Ted’s to its full potential,” said Baum. “I am deeply saddened by the loss of the restaurant, but rebuilding is simply not an option.”

Although the building was a complete loss, words cannot even begin to describe how grateful Baum and the restaurant staff are for the assistance received from the local fire departments, community volunteers, and the American Red Cross. The support of the Clinton community is truly unsurpassed.

Anyone who purchased or received a Ted’s Garage gift card will be reimbursed by check for the remaining balance. All who currently have a gift card are asked to mail it to the following address:

Scott Baum
PO BOX 657
Clinton, Illinois 61727
The lot previously occupied by the restaurant will be turned into additional parking for Baum Chevrolet Buick as the dealership expands its storefront.
