In an open letter on Thursday, Davis accused the Park Board of not bidding out the pavilion at the Hickory Point Golf course, saying they took advantage of the ‘emergency statute’ in order to get it finished before the Future’s tournament was held there in June of 2012.
In a response from the Park District, Riley says the accusations are false.
“There were bids taken for three separate aspects of the project and we used foundation money to fund the entire project; no taxpayer money was used to build the pavilion. We did take bids from local companies and used those companies to construct the pavilion.”
Riley says they did move along with the process as quickly as possible so they would be able to capitalize on having the pavilion throughout the summer months so it could be rented out and used for events.
