Decatur officer finds himself behind bars after theft



DECATUR-- An 18 year veteran of the Decatur Police Department finds himself in trouble with his former employer after it was discovered he was stealing from the department. 
 
Matthew Knuckles, an officer on the Department’s Street Crimes Unit was arrested on Thursday after it was found that he had taken over $500 in work related funds as well as falsified financial documents. 
 
Knuckles has been booked into the Macon County Jail with a bond of $5,000. 
 
Chief of police Todd Walker stated that the incident was disheartening and that the incident will be handled by the administration swiftly.
