DECATUR- With several school districts reevaluating their student safety policy and school procedures in light of an emergency, Eisenhower High School has taken an extra cautionary approach.
At the beginning of the spring semester a letter was sent home to parents of Eisenhower students outlining a couple new rules, one of which prohibits students from carrying backpacks from class to class. Eisenhower Principal Charles Hoots says they will observe this new rule at least until the end of the semester…
“Our intention is to do this for the rest of this semester and then possibly reevaluate,” Hoots said. “We have gotten great participation so far.”
Hoots says they will reevaluate the ruling at the end of the semester. Students are still allowed to bring backpacks to school; they just need to keep them in their lockers once the school day begins.
