Davis: Solving 'fiscal cliff' needs to be a bipartisan effort

WASHINGTON D.C.-- Continued hyper-partisanship will be to blame for the nation going over the so-called “fiscal cliff,” says one of Illinois’ congressmen-elect.

U.S. Rep.-elect Rodney Davis says House Speaker John Boehner’s so-called “Plan B” proposal didn’t pass because his members knew it wasn’t going anywhere.

“Most things don’t operate that way.  If you look over the past couple of years, Washington has become so polarized.  It just seems like every major piece of legislation that costs the taxpayers trillions has been cast by a completely partisan vote.”

Davis also believes some members were standing by their principles to extend the Bush-era tax cuts for all Americans.

President Obama says he wants to stymie the cliff by issuing temporary stimulus spending to help with the slow recovery process while republicans say the nation cannot afford that route.

The cliff is set for just after the first of the year.
