Dunn reelected as Macon County Board Chairman
DECATUR-- The more things change, the more things stay the same… at least in regards to the members on top of the Macon County Board.
Incumbent Chairman Jay Dunn was reelected last night with a 12-9 vote. After the vote, Chairman Dunn thanked the voters who didn’t vote strictly on party affiliation.
”I asked 7 out of the 10 republicans if they would vote for me, and 2 of them did. I commend them and thank them for their vote; I know it was a tough thing for them to do with all the politics involved recently.”
Dunn also went on to say that he was thankful that the board members looked at his record and saw the progress they had made under his leadership.
The vote came just 3 weeks after the board approved a budget that saw their numbers in the black once again.
During the November 6th general election, the board changed from majority democratic to majority republican, but Dunn said he was confident that he would get reelected.
