Black Friday deals creep into Thursday's festivities

DECATUR-- Black Friday comes early for many stores this year.

With major chain stores like Target and Wal-Mart beginning their Black Friday deals, or even keeping regular hours during the Thanksgiving Holiday, employees have threatened to strike, or walk out.

“You have to work or you will be terminated.  Just from the night shift alone, 4 workers have already walked out.  It is not just new employees either, some people have worked there for years.”

An employee at a local box store says people have already quit and many employees are outraged at the way their employers handled the holiday work…

“They took away the holiday pay, and on top of that, we don’t even get to work our normal hours.  I have been working 37 hours the past few weeks so that they don’t have to pay me overtime for one 12-hour day.  It's not just me either, they hav been doing this to many employees over the past couple of weeks, they just don't want to pay us our fair share”

He stressed that it wasn’t the work that bothered him, but with the stores opening earlier this year; he won’t get to see his family or eat Thanksgiving dinner.

Due to the overcrowding, many stores such as Wal-Mart have labeled Thanksgiving as a mandatory working day.
