Student Tradeshow at Millikin highlights young entrepreneurs

DECATUR-- Millikin University’s Center for Entrepreneurship will showcase Millikin’s student-run ventures and student-launched businesses during the first Bi-Annual Student Business Tradeshow. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 27 and will be held in Lower Richards Treat University Center on the campus of Millikin University from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Community members can explore 20 businesses run by current Millikin University students. The event is free and open to the public.

“The tradeshow allows the Decatur community to meet current students who are actively running their own businesses and support them through purchase of their goods and services,” remarked William “B.J.” Warren, Millikin Instructor of Entrepreneurship. “The event provides an opportunity for students to network with other student owners who are facing similar challenges.” The Center for Entrepreneurship expects the tradeshow to become a bi-annual event with current students featured each fall. An event will also be held in the spring featuring both current and alumni businesses.

Businesses featured during the event will include Millikin’s student-run ventures First Step Records, Blue Connection, Pipe Dreams Studio Theatre, Carriage House Press, Blue Satellite Press, Bronze Man Books, and Ignite Studios. In addition, the following student-launched businesses will be featured: Millikin Microfinance Fund, ewe-sed, ABW Photography, Reader and the Geek, Strings Attached, The Knotted Pot, Stencil-Vania Shirt Co., Animated Expressions, WornOnce, Wired Expressions, Ready to Rock, Easy Hanging, Carry On, Little Oh, and Krystal’s Kandies.

The Student Business Tradeshow will be held Tuesday, Nov. 27 from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. in Lower Richards Treat University Center on the campus of Millikin University. Complimentary refreshments will be provided.
