Susan Hofer, spokeswoman with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulations, says Utah based Pinnacle Security, LLC allegedly hired unlicensed sales personnel and allowed employees with criminal histories to sell their products door-to-door in Illinois.
Hofer says the company also “slammed: consumers by changing their alarm service using fraudulent and deceptive means.
An IDFPR investigation found that 700 of the 1,100 Pinnacle employees were not licensed by the state.
In addition, several of the employees listed on the company’s employee roster had been charged or convicted of felonies which would have been cause to deny a license.
As part of the $1 million settlement, Pinnacle cannot solicit new customers in Illinois for two years.
