Officers will be out in heavy force cracking down on anyone drinking and driving, not wearing a seatbelt or speeding this weekend and through Halloween.
It can be a dangerous time on the roads says state department of transportation spokesperson Josh Kauffman
“Over the past 8 years in Illinois 31 individuals lost their lives and over 2,000 were injured in over 8,500 motor vehicle crashes. There tends to be a higher number of accidents during Halloween.”
Kauffman says that alcohol was a factor in many of the accidents. He also says to remember that state law requires everyone to be buckled up, even those riding in the back seat.
