DECATUR-- The Decatur Area Arts Council has awarded grants to the following non-profit organizations and schools:
Macon Resources, to instruct an employee on the use of the kiln and how to create pinch pots in order for her to teach residents.
Gallery 510, for Young Artists Showcase, an exhibit of artwork by 5th – 8th grade students.
Westminster Presbyterian Church, to provide an opportunity for the community to sing a portion of Handel’s Messiah using experienced instrumentalists and a director/conductor.
Argenta Oreana Public Library, an 8 week workshop teaching children the life and works of Michelangelo by introducing the professional methods and care of materials used in the 15th century.
Maroa Forsyth Grade School, artist in residence, Regina Rhodes, will visit 25 classrooms and give an hour of instruction on creating and glazing a clay project.
Children’s Museum of IL, artist in residence, Regina Rhodes, will teach a children’s class on the art and science of clay art creations.
MacArthur High School, guest artist/choreographer, Mike Weaver, will assist with the All City/County high school musical, Hairspray.
