DECATUR-- 48th State Senate Candidate Andy Manar will be joining with several members of the AFSCME union in protest of Governor Pat Quinn’s proposed shutdowns of several prisons and adult transitional centers throughout Illinois.
Manar says cutting prisons will result in overcrowding, creating an unsafe environment and prohibit the facilities from making sure inmates get properly educated and rehabilitated…
“Safety is going to be compromised, number one. Number two, we need to make sure that people, when they get out of the prison system, don’t come back.”
As part of the closings, the adult transitional center here in Decatur would be shut down.
