After a record setting 3rd quarter in 2012, the road appears to toughen for CAT

DECATUR-- Just days after announcing their plans to stay located in Peoria, the heavy machinery manufacturer released their 3rd quarter numbers that foreshadow a tough road ahead, especially for the mining truck plant here in Decatur.  CAT’s record $16.5 billion dollar 3rd quarter was up 5% from 2011.  Despite the good news, the next few months could prove to be tough for the company with global orders declining and a world economy becoming more unstable.  The planned shutdown for a month in November is still in place, as is the closure for the entire month of December.
