"Yellow Dot" program will help save lives

SPRINGFIELD-- State transportation officials say the new “yellow dot” program in Illinois will help save lives.  The “yellow dot” initiative features a yellow sticker that you place in the rear window of your vehicle and it indicates to police and EMT’s that you have detailed medical information in your glove box.  IDOT Safety Director John Webber says every minute is critical when it comes to rescuing a crash victim.

"The golden hour after a serious injury is the most important and anything that we can do to get information into the first responders hands to help them make the right medical decisions immediately will save lives."

You can pick up a yellow dot kit at your local health department and at many police and fire departments.  For more information visit: www.yellowdotillinois.org.
