Illinois cracking down on the sale of colored lenses



CHICAGO-- There are many ways to distort your image during the Halloween season but with their recent crackdown on the sale of non-prescription, colored contact lenses, the Illinois Dept. of Professional Regulation is ensuring that changing your eye color will not be one of them.  Due to a recent rash of eye infections the IDFPR decided to get stern on convenience stores and online pharmacies that sell the lenses, and as Decatur Vision Source optometrist Gary Gray says, they are right to do so…
 


Colored lenses can still be purchased; you just need to go through an eye doctor’s office in order to obtain a prescription.  Gray says that often times the lenses purchased through convenience stores do not go through FDA testing and can carry hazardous materials.
