Illinois continues its push to eliminate unemployment fraud

SPRINGFIELD-- The Illinois Department of Employment Security continues to crack down on benefit fraud by targeting inmates trying to collect unemployment checks.

IDES Director Jay Rowell says a new cross match system makes it easy to target individuals…

The state is also going after people who have already collected benefits.

Nearly two million dollars in fraudulent payments have already been identified.  The more than 11-hundred inmates who collected that money will have to pay it back.
