School Board hears update on renovations to SDMS & Eisenhower; also hears new breakfast & lunch requirements

DECATUR-- The facelift projects that both Stephen Decatur Middle School and Eisenhower High School are going through are nearing the 70% finished point.  Both schools have received significant upgrades to their technology infrastructure, including multiple internet hookups and upgraded library and computer labs.  Director of Buildings and Grounds Mike Sotiroff says with everything going according to plan, the school formerly known as Stephen Decatur Middle School will be getting its 3rd tenant in 3 years…

The total cost of renovations to Stephen Decatur round out at just over $109,000 and just over $102,000 for Eisenhower.  In addition to the technology upgrades Eisenhower will also be receiving a new press box in its football stadium.

The new lunch program that has been making rounds across the nation has finally made its way to DPS’s cafeterias.  The program spearheaded by Aramark will focus on giving kids a more balanced lunch, including the requirement of at least 1 fruit or vegetable on their tray for it to be considered a lunch.  Milk will also have stricter regulations with any flavored milk such as chocolate or strawberry needing to be fat free and white milk a maximum of 1%.  For complete lunch and breakfast information you can find it at dps61.org.
