DECATUR-- For those who are physically unable to make it to a public transportation station or cannot afford cab fare to make it to their destination, the city of Decatur is giving you another option. At their regularly scheduled meeting last night the city council voted unanimously to go forward with an agreement with AOK Travel Network. The agreement will give riders an opportunity to get a ride to their destination for a flat fee of $2 dollars. AOK will be working as a private entity and on an on-call basis.
Slowly but surely Lake Decatur is beginning to recover from this summer’s drought. City Water Manager Keith Alexander says that research on the lake has found that while the levels are still falling, they are doing so at a much lesser rate than earlier in the year…
Alexander also says the city is continuing to pursue additional supplemental water supplies that will drain directly into Lake Decatur. The water management council hopes to have a plan ready to present to the city council by next week. The cool weather has also taken a noticeable toll on ADM’s water usage; they have been dumping an estimated 1 million gallons of unused water into Lake Decatur on a daily basis.
