DECATUR - Doing a good turn can be painful, and that’s just how one Decatur man feels after he tried to help an 18-year old who was being battered and ended up in the hospital himself. 

37-year old Michael Marth was treated at St. Mary’s Hospital for head injuries suffered when he was slammed to the ground by a 19-year old suspect in the 1000 block of East William.  Marth was attempting to protect the 18-year old victim as well as his wife. 

The suspect is 6 foot 3 inches, 200 pounds.  An identification has been made through the police department.
