DECATUR - A Mendota, Illinois man and a Batavia, Illinois man are both in custody after attempting to burglarize El Corral Mexican restaurant on U.S. 36. 

Details have been released on the attempt and resulting chase by a single police officer that took place last weekend.  Decatur Police patrol officer Stephen Kennedy was reports he spotted two suspects attempting to break into the restaurant’s back door.  He attempted to stop them, but both tried to flee.  He chased one man down while the next cornered himself in the Circle K bathroom nearby. 

The men are identified as 36-year old Michael Godfrey and 36-year old Joseph Goldman.  Both are free on bail and are due for arraignment October 16^th.
