Sequestration Center takes Decatur international

DECATUR - Richland Community College is now home to a one-of-a-kind international innovation in education and clean energy.  The National Sequestration Education Center at RCC is now officially open in partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy, ADM, Schlumberger (Shlumber-[soft jay] jhay) Carbon Services, and the U of I Illinois State Geological Survey.

Scott McDonald, ADM Biofuels Development Director and head of the Illinois Industrial Carbon Capture and Sequestration project, says the center and the research are invaluable to Decatur, ADM, and Richland, even if you’re not entirely sure what it’s all about…

Dr. Gayle Saunders, President of Richland, says the College takes an international stage with this addition…

Classes are already in progress at the facility.
