DECATUR-- As the summer months begin to fade away, many of Illinois farmer's crops are still being affected by the drought this summer. Because of the harsh conditions put forth by the weather this year Brian Frieden, with the USDA says farmers across the Midwest should get their crops tested for aflatoxin…
Frieden says that there are no visual detectable signs of aflatoxin when it infects a plant, so it would be a good idea for all farmers to contact their crop insurer and get a test done. It is important to do this before you harvest; once the plant is all grown it is too late.
