Temporary Signage Given Length Mandate & Lake Decatur Update



With Decatur’s recent crackdown on temporary signage in public right-of-ways they are also reminding you that temporary signs are just that.  Decatur City Manager Ryan McCrady says the new ordnance doesn’t restrict the types of signage you can put in your yard, it just puts a time restriction on them…



McCrady says the new restrictions align Decatur with the regulations put out by the state of Illinois.  He likens with a step towards cleaning up the city’s image.


The recent rainfall and cooler temperatures, in addition to the additional water reservoirs in use, Lake Decatur has seen its usage go way down in recent weeks.  City Water Manager Keith Alexander says there are no immediate plans for water restrictions to be lifted here in Decatur, but he says there is a long term plan in place…

 
Work continues on an agreement to provide temporary vertical wells to help with the lack of water - which the council could consider in the near future - and the city is still operating the DeWitt County and Cisco wells as supplemental supplies.
