Local Legislator Pushes For Concealed Carry Reform
MACON - Illinois remains the only state in the union without a concealed carry law, and if State Rep. Bill Mitchell has any say in it, it will remain that way no longer. Similar legislation nearly made it through the house with 65 votes last year before Speaker of the House Michael Madigan announced that it needed 70 votes to make it through. Mitchell says this issue goes past republican and democrat, and is a human rights issue.
Hassinger was adamant that the new reform wouldn't be allowing just anyone to walk around with a gun...
He added that he thought these new laws would make new, as well as old, gun carriers to be more informed about their weapons.
