Thanks to some heavy rains over the Labor Day weekend, Lake Decatur has seen its levels rise 9 inches since August 31st. As it sits today, the lake is currently 1 ½ feet under its normal winter levels and 3 ft. below its normal summer levels. The Village of Long Creek saw a majority of their water restrictions get lifted over the past couple days, but City Water Manager Keith Alexander says no such plans have been made for Decatur…
Alexander says that the lake would need to gain another 1 ½ feet, as well as begin receiving a steady water supply from the Sangamon. Water officials will be meeting with the Bassmasters next Monday to discuss Lake Decatur usage during their event.
