Quinn Vetoes Gambling Expansion Bill Amid Concerns Over Integrity of Bill

An expansion on gambling will not be happening here in Illinois, at least not yet.  Governor Quinn vetoed the proposed bill this morning, saying, he supports the bill if he agrees with everything in it, saying, "over the past several years I have repeatedly made clear that any expansion of gaming in our state must include strong ethical standards, proper balance, and support for education."

This form of the bill didn’t contain enough regulations regarding campaign contributions or support for the educational system.  Quinn said, "Illinois should never settle for a gambing bill that includes loopholes for mobsters."

The governor said he would be willing to look at a revised form of the bill if the proper corrections are made.
