The Illinois State Fair has come and gone but as the 10 day record breaking event closes for another 355 days event organizers are pleased to see that attendance was up 15% from the previous year. Over 844,000 people attended the fair this year, up from the 735,000 in 2011. Fair Manager Amy Bliefnick attributes the cool temperatures and popular grandstand acts as major reasons why attendance was so high. Country music acts Eric Church and Miranda Lambert were the top draws this year, each drawing a sizeable portion of the 51,700 concert attendees.
