An Illinois State Rep. charged with taking bribes is now an ex state rep.  Derrick Smith was arrested in March for taking bribe money has been expelled from the Illinois House of Representatives.  The vote, which needed a 2/3rds majority to pass, easily cleared that hurdle 100 to 6.  The vote does not hold any criminal charges, it only removes smith from the house.  Smith could still appear on the November if he chooses.  He is still awaiting trial on federal bribery charges.
