Government Opens Additional Land to Farmers in Need

Ask and you shall receive.  The Federal government has granted access to Illinois farmers who asked for the land in order to feed their livestock.  Jamie Diebal with the USDA says now that the extension has been granted, farmers are free to harvest the grasses, but there are some restrictions…

Diebal says that farmers who wish to bail the hay and grasses and bring the vegetation back to their farms have until August 30th to do so.  However farmers who wish to have their livestock graze on the lands, have until September 30th.  Anyone with any questions about the program extension is urged to go to fsa.usda.gov or contact your local FSA office.
