"Swimmers Itch" Causing Concern Among Lake Visitors



Jumping in a lake to cool off may seem like a good alternative to being on land in times of intense heat… that is unless you become a victim of “swimmers itch”.  Dr. Connie Austin from the Illinois Department of Public Health says the symptoms are not life threatening, but if you’re taking a dip in a lake, it’s a good idea to be aware…



Two cases have been reported in Lake Jacksonville so far this summer.  Dr. Austin recommends treating the rash like you would poison ivy.
