The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services began sending out 600 layoff notices Friday as it tries to absorb an $86 million budget cut. Spokesperson Kendall Marlowe with the DCFS says the layoffs will happen statewide but while some positions will be let go, others will be filled…
Marlowe also says that DCFS did not want to layoff anybody, and they had a plan worked out but when the General Assembly announced their budget cuts, they had to reassess some positions in order to best protect kids while also fitting the new budget. Regional layoff numbers will be announced next week.
