In response to recent cases where the deaths of adults with developmental disabilities were not investigated by the Department of Human Services (DHS) and the Office of the Inspector General, Illinois State Representative Dwight Kay (R-Glen Carbon) has filed legislation requiring DHS to conduct more thorough investigations…



To better insure quality work, Kay says, the bill requires the report on the subject to contain information regarding the prior complaint of alleged abuse and the reporter.  It must also include a written explanation of all actions taken or not taken by the OIG or the Department upon receiving the complaint, as well as all of the personnel who were involved in investigating the report of abuse.
