The winner of the first annual Penny Severns Integrity Award is Attorney General Lisa Madigan.  The award was presented to Madigan by the Macon County Democratic Committee and given to Madigan for her outstanding work with the state as the Attorney General.  Madigan says Penny Severns was one of the people who inspired her to take office…



Before her death in 1998 Severns achieved a decorated political career that included being the youngest elect to the democratic national convention, being elected to the Decatur City Council in 1983 and being elected a State Senator in 1986.  Guest speakers at the event included Rodney Severns, Julie Curry and former Mayor of Decatur Michael Carrigan.
