National Weather Service Places Several Central Illinois Towns Under Sever Heat Warning

The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning through 7 p.m. Saturday for Decatur, Springfield, Peoria, Champaign, and Bloomington.  They are urging all people, especially the elderly to stay out of the heat as much as possible.  Several cities within the state have faced power outages and the weather authorities are saying if that happens to you, make sure you get to some place with air conditioning.  There are several cooling stations set up around the area.  For a complete list of stations go to keepcool.illinois.gov.
