Macon County law enforcement is celebrating more than America’s birthday this week after a successful dragnet operation.
Operation Wet Fuse brought in 21 arrests on Tuesday afternoon, including the main suspect in last week’s Nelson Park shooting. Decatur PD, Auxiliary Police, the DEA, Department of Homeland Security, Illinois State Police, Macon County Sheriff’s deputies, and even the U.S. Marshals all participated in impounding vehicles, securing firearms, and racking up arrests.
In all, 71 citations were issued. Authorities say they aren’t done yet; more summer operations like Wet Fuse are planned soon.
