Illinois in Midst of Record Heat Streak

The state of Illinois continues to break records as heat temperatures keep rising.  In June Chicago saw its first 100 degree day since 2005 and the rest of Illinois saw numerous records broken due to the heat.  Macon County Sheriff Tom Schneider says the level of heat over the past few days has been like something he has never experienced.

Despite numerous thunderstorms throughout the state, temperatures are not set to begin dropping in the near future. In response to the severe heat the state of Illinois, along with Macon County are offering several cooling stations.  For a complete list of centers go to keepcool.illinois.gov
