Decatur Housing Numbers Up with Illinois Sales in May

Central Illinois housing numbers are on the rise.  Macon County saw a 12% increase in home sales from this time last year, and the median price of homes is up 13%, from $87,500 in May 2011 to $98,750 now. Norm Willoughby of the Decatur Association of Realtors says he’s cautiously optimistic of the turnaround…

Willoughby says stiffer underwriting standards, buyers and sellers with better credit evaluations, and a better understanding that values just won’t fetch what they were three years ago are all factors in a strong housing year so far in 2012.
