Decatur Parolee Arrested in Foot Chase

A foot chase in Decatur led law enforcement to an arrest of a parolee threatening to shoot people.  Decatur Police arrested 20-year old Akeem Rivers late Monday afternoon in the 1900 block of College Street.

Rivers reportedly declared earlier he had a loaded weapon and was going to start shooting individuals.  Officers had to deploy a Taser to subdue Rivers after an armed foot chase through the neighborhood.  He’s being charged with felony possession of a loaded weapon, resisting arrest, and illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor.

Rivers is being held without bond because he’s on parole for prior battery convictions.
