City votes to OK Video Gambling

If video gambling is your choice of entertainment you soon won’t have far to travel.  The city of Decatur voted in a split decision to allow for video gambling machines in any business that has established a liquor license.  City Manager Ryan McCrady agrees with the city’s decision, and thinks that the good will outweigh the bad…

McCrady also says that just because a business has a liquor license does not mean that it will automatically be allowed to have gambling machines.  The state will do a sweep of all eligible institutions and make a final decision on which establishment is cleared to have a machine.

In addition to video gambling machines, Decatur will also be welcoming in a new shopping center and a daycare.  The city voted unanimously to continue revamping the shopping center on the 2200 block of East Williams Street in Decatur.  They also approved a permit for a residential building to be used as a daycare facility at 1976 East Decatur Street.
