Piatt County Boy Leads Police on Wild Chase
Gunshots were fired, a squad car was damaged and a utility pole sheared Tuesday in Manitowoc, Wis., as cops caught up with a suspect during a chase.
The alleged driver was a 14-year-old runaway from Piatt County, and was driving a truck that was reported stolen Monday night from Pierson Station, according to police.
The suspect was arrested and taken by ambulance to a local hospital for an arm injury.
The incident began when police received a call regarding a reckless driver reported to be crossing the center line, hitting the gravel on the side of the road and running stop signs. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the vehicle accelerated and a pursuit ensued. An officer attempted to slow the vehicle down by boxing it in and was struck by the fleeing vehicle. The vehicle then struck a light pole and an officer fired several shots at the vehicle.
The suspect was traveling 60 miles per hour at one point, according to scanner reports.
