An exhibit for new penguins is getting the o.k. to move forward at Scovill Zoo.  The zoo will be working with a St. Louis-based design firm for constructing an exhibit for the birds, in addition to planning for a river otter exhibit.  Although there is no official timetable on when exactly penguins would arrive in Decatur, the park district board says it’s glad to see a definitive start to the process. 

The Zoo’s first free admission day is today, and that promotion is continuing every Thursday through the summer.
