Macon County Sheriff Gives Some Updates On A Busy Weekend

The attempt to get K2 drug use down and eventually out of Decatur has been a huge success, says Macon County Sheriff Tom Schneider.  After conducting a major crackdown on synthetic drugs – and their dealers – over the last year, Schneider says many local vendors have been cooperative…

Schneider also says a major factor in the declining use of drugs such as bath salts is the public’s awareness of what physical and psychological effects they can have on a user’s body.

The Illinois Dept. of Transportation warned drivers that they would have extra law enforcement on the roads all weekend over the Memorial Day holiday, and as the numbers indicate, they did just that.  Macon County Sheriff Thomas Schneider says that due to their stepped up enforcement the number of DUI arrests in Macon County was higher than usual, but there were no fatalities…

Schneider also stressed that the number of law enforcement officers on the roads was not meant to bother anyone; they just wanted the roads to be as safe as possible.
