Two Decatur Schools continue to be a model of excellence and have received Illinois Spotlight School Awards. Muffley Elementary students and Robertson Charter School students both scored over 80 percent on Illinois Standard Achievement Tests. Over 64 percent of students in each school are considered low income students. Those are the criteria, along with adequate yearly progress in the last two years. Both schools have won the award before, but numbers of awards are decreasing due to increasing standards from No Child Left Behind.
