Moissanite is a crystal that came from the heavens. Fifty thousand years ago, an ancient meteorite streaked from the heavens into the Arizona desert of the United States containing the secret for a unique new jewel unlike any existing on Earth. Scientist Henri Moissan discovered particles of an intriguing new mineral - silicon carbide - that later was named "Moissanite". In the late 1980"s a proprietary process for producing large crystals of Moissanite was developed by combing the natural minerals of silicon and carbon. Then, in 1995, a master diamond cutter suggested that properly cut crystals would make a remarkably hard and nearly colorless, shimmering jewel - one that would prove to produce more fire, brilliance and luster than any other available on Earth. Moissanite will test as a Diamond with a normal thermal diamond tester. The cost is about one third of a diamond the same size!
