Traffic Updates and Street Closures:

City of Decatur crews will be working in Greenhill Road at IL Rte 36, repairing a water main failure which began Thursday, May 3, 2012.  Weather permitting; this work will cause the total closure of Greenhill Road at IL Rte 36 starting at 12:00 p.m. (Noon), May 3, 2012, and continuing to approximately 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 9, 2012.  Motorists should slow down, use extreme caution and are encouraged to use IL Rte 36 to 44th Street to Greenhill Road and Greenhill Road to 44th Street to IL Rte 36 as a detour.  Please contact Tom Schwent at Water Services Division, at 875-5705, for further details.

City of Decatur crews will be working at 3200 Greenlake Drive, for ditching work, beginning Wednesday, May 2, 2012, weather permitting.  This work will cause the total closure of 3200 Greenlake Drive starting at 8:00 a.m., and continuing to approximately 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 2, 2012.  Motorists should slow down, use extreme caution and are encouraged to seek an alternate route around the work zone.  Please contact Rick Baker at Streets and Sewers Division, at 875-4820, for further details.


Feutz Contractors, Inc. will be working in the entire block of Merchant Street, from East Main Street to East Prairie Street, in conjunction with the downtown streetscape project, beginning Monday, April 2, 2012, weather permitting.  This work will cause the total closure of Merchant Street to vehicular traffic, from East Main Street to East Prairie Street, starting at 7:00 a.m., Monday, April 2, 2012, and continuing to approximately 7:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 2, 2012.  Pedestrians will have access to the businesses on Merchant Street throughout the duration of the street closure and should exercise extreme caution through the work zone.  Please contact Jess Hammer at Feutz Contractors, Inc., at 217-465-8402, for further details


East Firehouse Road in Long Creek is closed indefinitely due to a failed bridge.  It will be closed between Walker Road and 70th Street in the Village of Long Creek.  If you have any questions, please call the Macon County Highway Department at 424-1404. 


The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that Wyckles Road over US 51 (BUS) is now closed
Wyckles Road is closed to allow the contractor to complete joint work and overlay work on the bridge. The bridge is expected to be closed for four months to complete work on the structure.
