SPRINGFIELD-- A new law requires state agencies in Illinois to work together to help people with disabilities find work.
“My goal is to make Illinois the nation’s leading employer of people with disabilities,” Gov. Pat Quinn said at the bill signing ceremony. “We are breaking down more barriers to increase employment opportunities for people with disabilities in our state.”
Sponsored by State Sen. Daniel Biss (D-Evanston) and State Rep. Esther Golar (D-Chicago), this legislation requires agencies to share data and information to ensure that employment for those with disabilities is a priority.
The law goes into effect immediately.
