State Promoting "Pink Potlucks"

Governor Rod Blagojevich says the “pink potluck” campaign aims to get more women screened for breast and cervical cancer. The idea is that women should reach out to each other…at family gatherings…around the neighborhood…and yes…at potluck dinners to stress the importance of cancer screenings. State public health director doctor Damon Arnold says women need to get past the fear of being tested…and talk about their concerns with others. If cost for testing is the problem…Arnold reminds the state has a program to help women who don’t have insurance pay for the screenings and treatment.
