New Bill To Protect From Identity Theft

People are worried about identity theft these days, and some companies are willing to sell you an insurance policy against it. A bill making its way through the Illinois General Assembly aims to give consumers some idea about what to expect. It provides for a "consumer fact sheet" for people considering such a policy. It would also give tips on how to protect yourself against identity theft. The sponsor says it's more to give information than it is to target some kind of scam. The measure has passed the House Consumer Protection Committee and now heads to the full House.
