Kirk Endorses Davis; Durbin Endorses Gill

In a pair of moves that will not surprise anyone, Illinois' U.S. Senators are endorsing their parties' respective candidates in the 13th Congressional District.

Republican candidate Rodney Davis met with Senator Mark Kirk on Friday to discuss the nation's fiscal state and other major issues facing the United States and Illinois, namely taxes and spending.  Kirk is still recovering from the major stroke he suffered late last year.

Meanwhile, Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin is endorsing Dr. David Gill of Bloomington in the race.  He gave his support Sunday in front of the Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.  Durbin is attacking a recent proposal by Wisconsin Senator Paul Ryan that Democrats claim would only raise taxes on the middle class while giving further breaks to the richest Americans.

CORRECTION:  Our story from August 3, 2012 stating that 13th Congressional Republican candidate Rodney Davis supports the Ryan Plan was in error.  He does not publicly nor officially hold that position. We apologize for the mistake.
